The Progress Report Post

Alright. Although by now I'm sure that I'm the only person posting on and checking this blog anymore, I find it therapeutic and helpful to write how I feel and post my progress. If you do happen to check in, please comment with your own progress no matter how big or small. I've realized as I go along that even tiny progress is still progress!

I've lost 14 pounds since January 1st. YAY! I got off track after the 17 Day Diet thing blew up in my face, and right after that Shane bought me a veritable dump truck full of Dove chocolate for Valentine's Day. So for almost two weeks I had fallen off the wagon but, after Presidents Day, I got back on track. I'm working the Weight Watchers program but I'm not going to meetings. Sadly it's easier to cheat when nobody else will see the scale but I'm doing pretty well, even though I may or may not have been talked into a 99 cent root beer float at KFC last night by Colt. I'm also wearing a new graphic tee that says "Hershey's" on the front I cannot quit thinking about chocolate.

Small Accomplishments:
-Going to Jyze workouts 3x per week
-Drinking tons of water (interspersed by plenty of Diet Dr. Pepper, Coke Zero and Diet Mtn. Dew)
-Controlling portion sizes
-Realizing that I'm not always hungry when I'm bored
-Realizing that sometimes when I feel hungry I'm really thirsty! (BIG ONE FOR ME!)
-Trying to make smart choices (think light popcorn instead of potato chips)
-Controlling sweets

Things I suck at:
-Working out on Tuesday/Thursday
-Eating lots of fruits and vegetables (I got SO SICK of salad on the 17 Day Diet!)
-Getting back on track right away when I slip up (tortilla chips and salsa were my downfall yesterday)

New Finds:
-Extra Dessert Delights Gum. I love EVERY flavor, but especially the chocolate mint. I think the strawberry shortcake one makes my cravings a little worse, but the chocolate mint doesn't.
-Homemade, lowfat bleu cheese dressing. I mix it with Frank's Red Hot and put it on salad topped with chicken... YUM.
-Earth Grains Thin Buns. Mom showed me these forever ago and I'm just realizing how awesome they are. They're so good with an egg in the morning or tuna for lunch!
-Dove Dark Cherry Chocolates. I think these might have only been around for Valentine's Day :( They're dark chocolate (which I've read is good for belly fat) and are individually wrapped so I can keep my portions in check. Don't be scared if you do find some... they're just cherry flavored chocolate. None of that cherry goo inside! In fact, I love these so much that I dyed my hair red on Saturday, which is now my downfall. Every time I look in the mirror I think about cherry chocolates.
